ACTION ITEM
One of the hardest things to find when you’re editing a magazine is someone who can not only be genuinely funny, but can be genuinely funny on a regular basis (even if we’re only talking every other month). It was therefore with some interest that we stumbled upon The Adventures of Action Item, Professional Superhero!
     Anyone who has ever been frustrated by the strange mental state that seems to overtake anyone who spends too long in sales or marketing will find this hilarious. Unfortunately the artist, Neil McAllister (Nihil for short), tells us this is a one-off, drawn in a fit of pique after a particularly frustrating day in the office. 
     Neil is a programmer himself, and has found the cartoon to be particularly popular with software developers. Now I wonder why that can be?
     We recommend you check out the whole thing, which you will find at www.sentient.com/~pcm2/action_item.html where you can also purchase prints for $12 plus $6 shipping. Hang it outside a local sales or marketing department and see if they get the joke.
